The Key Role Nurses Play in Patients’ Journeys with Chronic Diseases
It’s an exciting time to be a nurse—our role in health care is as important as ever, and we now have access to technologies and innovations that allow us to provide better care for patients. Even with these advances, however, one constant remains: the importance of being well prepared to serve as true sources of support.
During the past seven years as a pulmonary nurse practitioner at Temple Lung Center, I’ve found that knowledge sharing among peers is absolutely essential. By learning from each other, we not only expand our clinical skills but also strengthen our ability to provide holistic care, particularly for patients with chronic diseases that can be difficult to manage.
In the spirit of National Nurses Week, I want to share a few insights—lessons gathered from my own experience and from the many amazing nurses I’ve worked alongside. My hope is that these reflections can help you, too, as you continue on your journey in nursing.
